Here we are back on the road... err, stopped again. Hey! What's Sonja doing?

Oops, sorry about that. I don't know how that photo got in there.

A rolling stone gathers no moss, so we were on to Seattle, where the fabulous Brad Beshaw allowed us to take over his comic shop, Confounded Books. This here is our luxurious changing room. It was a step up from the parking lot we used in San Francisco.

We performed that night to a whopping six people. But it was worth it for the shopping, the opportunity to hang out with Brad in Confounded and because we were joined by the local talent Dave Lasky, co-creator of the Urban Hipster comic.

He read from his chapbook, Poems for Superheroes, which he wrote because he felt like superheroes are never getting their due. Seriously. He read some hilarious haiku, even. He also told me about some weird but fun group he used to be part of in which regular Seattleites would dress up like superheroes and get up on stage at a local bar. He promised to send photos. If he ever does, I'll link to them.

Next stop: Bellingham, Washington. Try as the Bellingham agent Kate might, she was unable to entice any literary fans out to the event. But we did get free coffee! Sonja ordered a:

And drew portraits of two girls who sat through the event without breaking a single smile or frown.

Bellingham sure was a tough nut. But we didn't let it get us down. We went back to Sonja's and listened to a little Def Leopard.

Sadly, that was Tamara's last night with us. She flew back to Toronto on the red eye the next night. It's too bad she didn't stick around for the Vancouver show at the Railway Club, because it was huge and lively. People laughed at the jokes! They liked us! They bought stuff! It was great!

Here are some nice pix of La Sonja in action, taken by my friend Shirley Roburn. I still can't believe I forgot to take photos of her and Tamara for the entire trip. I guess I was too nervous during the events to think of anything but how to stop myself from taking off.
